Evidenced-based Compassionate Therapy
At MindPsych Clinic, we provide individualised, evidence-based psychological therapy to support people experiencing a range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties.
Our collaborative and trauma-informed approach draws on a range of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy-informed interventions and parts-informed approaches. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs and goals, with a focus on developing greater self-understanding, addressing underlying difficulties and supporting meaningful, lasting change.
All therapy sessions are delivered via secure telehealth, allowing you to access professional psychological support from the comfort and privacy of your own environment.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based psychological therapy originally developed to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is designed to help individuals process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to influence their thoughts, emotions, beliefs and behaviours.
During EMDR therapy, clients briefly focus on aspects of a distressing experience while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as following a moving light with their eyes or experiencing alternating sounds or gentle tactile stimulation. This structured process aims to support the brain's natural ability to process and integrate difficult experiences, reducing their emotional impact.
EMDR is particularly well established in the treatment of trauma and PTSD and may also be incorporated into treatment for other psychological difficulties, depending on individual needs and clinical suitability.
For further information about EMDR therapy, visit the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA).

Cognitive and Intellectual Assessments
Cognitive assessments can be conducted if there is a suspected intellectual disability, developmental delay, executive functioning (e.g., attention) concerns, impaired academic progress or if an assessment of intelligence is required, including identifying children as academically gifted. Cognitive assessments are also conducted for children who require intellectual assessment as part of an NDIS application.
Assessment of Learning and Academic Abilities
This type of assessment is used when there are suspected learning disorders, delayed academic progress, or identification of giftedness. Testing evaluates a child's abilities in specific school subjects, such as reading, oral language, written language, and mathematics. Intelligence may play a role in completing these tests, but it is not directly measured by achievement tests.
Adult Assessments
MindPsych can conduct assessments for adults for the following conditions:
- Diagnostic Assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Cognitive ability / functioning testing;
- Learning difficulties, including specific learning difficulties;
- Diagnostic Assessment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD);
- Adaptive Behaviour / Functional Assessment for NDIS or other support purposes.
Assessment can include social/emotional concerns, and identify mental health concerns as per DSM-5 criteria.
The face-to-face component of assessment can be arranged in your own home if required.

Our emotional experiences are closely connected to what happens within our bodies. Stress, anxiety and past experiences can influence how we feel physically, sometimes leaving us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or constantly on alert.
At MindPsych Clinic, therapy may incorporate body-based (somatic) awareness, mindfulness and grounding techniques to help clients develop a greater understanding of their emotional and physiological responses. This might involve noticing physical sensations, reconnecting with the present moment, or learning ways to support a greater sense of calm and safety.
These approaches are integrated with evidence-based psychological therapies, recognising that meaningful change can involve both understanding our thoughts and experiences and developing a more compassionate, connected relationship with our bodies.
The aim is not to eliminate difficult emotions, but to develop greater awareness, flexibility and confidence in responding to life's challenges.
